FARO® provides 3D hardware and software solutions for as-built data capturing and 3D visualization of architecture, engineering and construction projects that allow AEC professionals to quickly and accurately extract desired 2D and 3D deliverables.
Step 1: Scan

Capture the project site

Begin by scanning the project site using a 3D laser scanner to capture real world information of buildings, infrastructure and industrial facilities into the digital world. Collect existing condition measurements from short and long range distances of complex geometries and structures within minutes for a complete recording of the current physical status.

Step 2: Process

Manage Scan Data

Once the existing conditions are captured into point clouds, the 3D data set is brought into a registration software used to align and manage individual point clouds. The registration software contains tools allowing users to process scan data, navigate through projects, visualize data in best color detail, take first measurements and collaborate the project.

Step 3: Deliver

Extract project deliverables

Extracting 2D and 3D data from point clouds is the most critical step in the laser scanning process. FARO AEC software solutions provide professionals with extensive tools to generate 2D and 3D deliverables and compare as-built conditions with digital CAD models. Floor plans, profiles, elevations and 3D models can be efficiently generated by intuitive extraction workflows.

Document Existing Building Conditions
FARO® offers a seamless solution and workflow for capturing existing as-builts efficiently and accurately in order to process data directly into deliverable CAD plans and BIM models using design software such as Autodesk® AutoCAD® and Revit®.
Capture Comprehensive As-builts

As-built 3D data serves as the basis for architectural drawings in 2D and 3D CAD programs. FARO Laser Scanners digitize as-built conditions quickly, accurately and completely in full detail. Complex geometries, insufficient documentation and areas with limited access make 3D laser scanning the ideal method to collect complete measurements of buildings, structures or industrial facilities.

As-Built Data in AutoCAD® / Revit®

Evaluate the measurements of existing buildings where they are needed. Generate 2D plans and 3D BIM models directly into AutoCAD® Software and Autodesk® Revit® for further planning and design.

From Scan-to-BIM Models

Utilizing FARO hardware and software enables designers to be cost effective in delivering real world information into BIM models. Architects and construction engineers benefit by intuitive workflows for precise extraction of BIM elements such as ground surfaces, walls, pipes, roofs or stairs from point cloud data directly into Autodesk® Revit®.

FocusS

The FocusS combines hallmark features of the previous FARO® Focus3D product line with significant technological innovations such as Ingress Protection Rating (IP54), increased scanning accuracy, an internal accessory bay and a built-in compensation routine.

  • Transmit scan data wirelessly to FARO SCENE to perform real time, on-site registration
  • Rescan distant targets to perform accurate target detection or capture smaller areas in greater detail**
  • Retake Photo allows user to select and recapture individual images with unwanted objects, i.e. people and moving vehicles
