Autodesk Forma (formerly Autodesk Construction Cloud)
The Unified Industry Cloud for AECO
Autodesk Forma is the evolution of Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), bringing design, construction, and operations together in a single connected industry cloud.
Formerly known as Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Forma represents Autodesk’s strategic shift toward an AI-native platform that connects fragmented AECO workflows across the entire project lifecycle — from early planning and site analysis through detailed design, construction delivery, and long-term asset operations.

What is Autodesk Forma?
Autodesk Forma is Autodesk’s first end-to-end industry cloud for Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Operations (AECO).
Built on a shared data foundation and enhanced with AI-driven insights, Forma connects previously siloed workflows into one continuous digital environment.
Forma enables teams to:
- Connect planning, design, construction, and operations workflows
- Improve predictability and reduce project risk
- Collaborate through a shared data environment
- Improve decision-making using connected project intelligence
- Scale digital delivery across teams and disciplines
By integrating Autodesk’s cloud construction capabilities (formerly ACC) into Forma, Autodesk has created a unified platform designed to support the full lifecycle of the built environment.
From Autodesk Construction Cloud to Autodesk Forma
Autodesk Construction Cloud is now part of the Autodesk Forma industry cloud.
Rather than replacing ACC functionality, Autodesk has expanded Forma to incorporate ACC’s proven construction workflows, enterprise controls, and project data environment.
This evolution creates a single connected ecosystem supporting:
- Conceptual planning and site intelligence
- Detailed design and BIM coordination
- Construction delivery and collaboration
- Asset operations and lifecycle insights
Existing workflows, permissions, integrations, and data structures remain unchanged. No migration is required.

A Single Common Data Environment Across the Project Lifecycle
At the core of Autodesk Forma is a unified Common Data Environment (CDE), ensuring all stakeholders work from a consistent and reliable source of information.
Formerly known as Autodesk Docs, Forma Data Management now serves as the shared data layer connecting teams, disciplines, and project phases.
This shared environment supports:
- Centralized project information
- Consistent data governance
- Improved collaboration across teams
- Continuity between design and construction workflows
- Scalable digital project delivery
Forma Data Management ensures information flows seamlessly from concept through operations.
Why Autodesk Forma Matters
The AECO industry has historically relied on disconnected tools and fragmented workflows.
Autodesk Forma introduces a unified environment where data flows continuously across disciplines, reducing manual coordination and enabling more informed decision-making earlier in the lifecycle.
Key advantages include:
- Connected lifecycle delivery
Enable continuity from planning through operations within a single digital environment. - Improved project visibility
Access reliable project intelligence through connected data models. - Reduced risk through earlier insight
Identify issues earlier using AI-supported analysis and predictive workflows. - Scalable collaboration
Support distributed teams with consistent data structures and permissions. - Future-ready digital infrastructure
Adopt an industry cloud designed to evolve with emerging workflows, AI capabilities, and data-driven delivery models.

What Has Changed
As of March 24, 2026, Autodesk Construction Cloud branding has transitioned into Autodesk Forma.
Updates include:
- Autodesk Construction Cloud becoming part of the Forma industry cloud
- Autodesk Docs now referred to as Forma Data Management
- Unified branding across Autodesk AECO solutions
- Expanded integrations between design and construction environments
- Continued evolution of AI-supported workflows
Despite these updates, existing capabilities, workflows, and login experiences remain consistent.
What Has Not Changed
While the platform branding has evolved, the core experience remains stable:
- No disruption to existing workflows
- No change to login or access methods
- No data migration required
- No impact to integrations or APIs
- No change to licensing structure
Teams can continue working as they do today while benefiting from expanded connectivity across the Forma ecosystem.

Autodesk Construction Cloud - FAQ
What is Autodesk Forma?
Autodesk Forma is Autodesk’s AI-native industry cloud for Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Operations (AECO). Formerly known as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), it brings design, construction, and operations together in one connected platform where project data flows across the full project lifecycle. As an Autodesk Platinum Partner in Canada, SolidCAD helps organizations implement Autodesk Forma and align it to their existing workflows.
What is Autodesk Forma used for?
Autodesk Forma is used by architecture, engineering, construction, and operations teams to manage the full project lifecycle in one connected cloud platform. Teams use Forma Build and Forma Essentials for RFIs, submittals, cost and quality management. Forma Takeoff handles 2D and 3D quantity takeoffs, while Forma Estimate is the dedicated tool for preconstruction estimating, consolidating estimating workflows in one connected environment. Forma Data Management serves as the centralized document hub for all project data. Design and engineering teams coordinate BIM models and manage design collaboration workflows through Forma Design Collaboration. SolidCAD helps Canadian AECO organizations implement Autodesk Forma and align it to their specific project delivery workflows.
How to use Autodesk Forma?
Autodesk Forma is accessed through your existing Autodesk account at forma.autodesk.com. If you are a current Autodesk Construction Cloud user, your login, projects, and workflows are already part of the Forma ecosystem and require no changes. From the Forma platform you can access Forma Build for project and field management, Forma Takeoff for preconstruction estimating, Forma Design Collaboration for BIM coordination, Forma Data Management for document control, and Forma Site Design for early-stage planning. SolidCAD offers onboarding support, training, and implementation services to help Canadian AECO teams get up and running with Autodesk Forma quickly and efficiently.
What is Autodesk Forma Data Management?
Autodesk Forma Data Management is the Common Data Environment (CDE) built into the Autodesk Forma platform. It is the renamed version of Autodesk Docs, updated as part of the March 24, 2026 rebrand. Forma Data Management gives all project stakeholders a single, centralized location to store, manage, and share project files, drawings, and documentation across planning, design, construction, and operations. All existing Autodesk Docs files, folder structures, and permissions carry over automatically. No migration is required. Starting March 25, 2026, a feature-limited version called Forma Data Management Essentials became available to standalone AutoCAD, Revit, and Civil 3D subscribers.
What is Autodesk Forma Data Management and how does it replace Autodesk Docs?
Forma Data Management is simply the new name for Autodesk Docs, updated as part of the Autodesk Forma rebrand on March 24, 2026. It continues to serve as the Common Data Environment (CDE) connecting project data across planning, design, construction, and operations. Nothing changes for existing users, all files, folder structures, permissions, and workflows remain exactly as they were. No migration or reconfiguration is needed.
Is Autodesk Forma replacing Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)?
No. Autodesk Forma is not replacing Autodesk Construction Cloud, it is expanding it. As of March 24, 2026, ACC’s proven construction workflows, enterprise controls, and infrastructure have been brought into the Autodesk Forma industry cloud. ACC capabilities continue to operate exactly as before, now unified under the Forma brand alongside design and operations tools. No functionality has been removed.
