Ontario Automotive Modernization Program (O-AMP)

Receive up to 50% of $150,000 in funding to help automate your processes and improve productivity

What is the O-AMP?

O-AMP supports automotive manufacturers to improve operational efficiency and competitiveness through the adoption of new hardware, software, and processes. including ERP implementations, lean manufacturing, robotics, and automation projects.

Open for application starting November 15, 2021 and closes on January 4, 2022. But any interested applicants should aim to have the application submitted by December 10, 2022 due to processing time and the holiday season.

Please note that all decisions will be announced in late March or April 2022 and you can receive pp to 50% project funding with a cap of $150,000 in grant funding. All Grants are disbursed after completing interim progress report(s) and final result report.

Consulting Services

  • MAKE Productivity; was designed by a team of certified CNC and CAD/CAM specialists to increase programming efficiency, and produce high-quality, repeatable outcomes by automating the workflow in PowerMill®
  • Autodesk CAM solutions; Choose from a range of Autodesk solutions for programming CNC mills, lathes, multitasking centers, sheet-material cutters, and wire EDM machines.

(*) items are SolidCAD offerings eligible for the O-AMP grant.

Applicant Eligibility 

To be eligible for O-AMP, you must be a small- or medium-sized Ontario-based business in the automotive supply chain.

Specifically, you must meet these requirements:

    • be a for-profit business (with a business number)
    • have less than 500 employees in Ontario
    • have less than $1 billion in global revenues
    • have at least two years of financial statements
    • at least 50% of the company’s total sales revenue comes from the auto supply sector
    • must have a manufacturing location in Ontario by the time your project starts

Eligible Projects

O-AMP provides support to projects that fall under one or both of the following categories:

    • Technology adoption – implementing advanced manufacturing hardware, software and/or training to improve processes and competitiveness, for example, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, production tracking systems and advanced hardware implementation. (*)
    • Tools and technologies to support new product development – adoption of  technologies to assist with the engineering and design of new products such as Computer-Aided Design & Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) systems, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software, Design for Manufacturing (DFM) tools, rapid-prototyping tools or other tools to support the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
    • Lean manufacturing – for example, improving operational efficiency and competitiveness by adopting lean manufacturing techniques and hiring the services of a mentor/consultant to help with lean implementation (*)

Eligible Expenses

  • No expenses can be incurred prior to approval;
  • Hardware/software (Including software licensing costs for the duration of the project); (*)
  • Implementation costs; (*)
  • Materials (May be eligible if it directly relates to software implementation and leverages benefits of that software);
  • Labour (e.g., Project Management) – Recommend to cap at 10% of the project budget; and (*)
  • Lean Manufacturing training and consulting (*)
